This is a favourite spot in West Hartford on a hot afternoon, a surprisingly shady and cool backyard. I sketched while being serenaded by katydids and guarded by Bubba, a handsome Weimaraner, who waited silently for me to throw his tennis ball… again. I only had time to do the pencil sketch on site and finished the watercolour when I was back in Canada.
